Clare + Sean
A Thoughtful, Art-Filled Baltimore Museum of Art Wedding
As seen in Baltimore Weddings
Some wedding days feel like a reflection of the couple in every single detail. Clare and Sean’s was one of those days. The way I saw it, the day was not just intentional and creative, but full of those moments that just stayed with you in the very best way.
Set inside the Baltimore Museum of Art with dinner at Gertrude’s Chesapeake Kitchen, their wedding combined show-stopping art, decadent food, history, and a loving community in a way that felt so personal without all the fuss. There were about 90 guests, and I captured the day mostly on film. The goal of the imagery was to be all about Clare and Sean, not about trying to fit into the traditional mold of what we might think a wedding should be.
Being an artist, Clare’s wedding dress was never going to be anything but special. Instead of choosing a gown off the rack, Clare and Jill Andrews Gowns collaborated to design something entirely custom, using fabric Clare sourced from eBay. If you look closely, you can see some fun cats hidden beneath the top layer of lace (fun fact, Sean proposed to Clare with their cat’s name tag). Her gown felt timeless and elegant, with texture and movement that bridged something modern and ancient. Watching her wear something she helped bring to life added another layer of meaning to the day, I was obsessed!
The day unfolded gently. It wasn’t a rush and no spectacle was created. But it was evident that the guests in attendance truly loved Clare and Sean and were thrilled to be part of the festivities. There was a calm energy carried all the way through the ceremony and into the evening. No performances. Just presence.
Clare’s artistic eye showed up everywhere, from the way the table settings were styled to the printed silk runners she created herself, featuring late Renaissance etchings. They added depth and texture to the space without overpowering it, perfectly complementing the museum setting. Even the candles used on the dinner tables felt meaningful and artful.
Night at the museum
We all know that crabcakes are near and dear to anyone from the Baltimore area. And so it was only fitting that the celebration continued at Gertrude’s Chesapeake Kitchen, tucked inside the Baltimore Museum of Art. The food included classic Maryland crabcakes served alongside thoughtful, seasonal dishes that felt celebratory without trying too hard. Served buffet style, there was something delicious for everyone to enjoy!
And then there was dessert. Instead of a traditional cake, Clare and Sean chose tiramisu from Patisserie Poupon. It was simple, elegant, and perfectly suited to the evening's tone. Fun fact about me: Tiramisu is one of my absolute favorite desserts. When Clare + Sean told me that was their plan for dessert, I knew we were a perfect match!
The Dapper DJs kept the room moving, setting a warm, inviting tone rather than an overproduced one. People danced, yes, but just as many gathered in corners to talk, laugh, and reconnect.
Flowers grown by Good Dog Farms were arranged by Clare, her bridesmaids, and her mother, giving the florals a personal, hands-on feel that tied the entire day together. Nothing felt overly styled; everything felt lived in.
Love as Art
Clare and Sean’s wedding wasn’t about spectacle. It was about intention. About choosing what mattered to them and letting the day unfold naturally around those choices. From the museum setting to the handmade details to the shared meal, every piece worked together quietly and beautifully.
This is the kind of wedding that reminds you why documenting real moments matters. Why film slows things down. Why honesty always outlasts trends. These heirloom images that I captured on this special day will become artifacts of a life shared, thoughtfully and creatively built.
